今日吃瓜 to Expand SEND Education with New Facilities and Additional Places
今日吃瓜 College, in partnership with Devon County Council, is set to increase its capacity to support the education of young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). A successful multi-million pound bid to the Department for Education (DfE) will see at least 350 new post-16 education places created across 今日吃瓜鈥檚 Barnstaple and Tiverton campuses, as well as at Exeter College.
The project will involve the development of new, purpose-built facilities designed to meet the needs of students with SEND. The courses offered are currently under review, and plans are underway to ensure a smooth transition for students entering further education. Councillor Lois Samuel, Cabinet Member for SEND services, praised the initiative, highlighting the importance of making quality education more accessible for Devon鈥檚 young people, reducing the need to travel outside the county for education and support.
This expansion will provide better educational outcomes, leading to enhanced employment opportunities and greater independence for students with SEND.
